Did you see a chance
a road to blinding light
did you hope for change
expect to do it right

did you dream a new bright future
before it was in sight
jumping to conclusions
won before the fight

were you remembering the past
a raw story often told
did you realize how you alone
were standing in the cold

have you learned your lesson now
of scars and pain and truth
words that spoiled dreams
have followed you since youth

did you have the right to dream
lost in the promise of glory
